General information
In the ePost app, you can currently receive digital letters from connected ePost senders free of charge. These include Vaudoise, Mobiliar, the Canton of Bern, the Canton of Lucerne, etc.
The ePost scanning service ensures that you also receive digital mail from senders in the app who are not yet connected to ePost.
This scanning service is chargeable and requires an upgrade via subscription. The subscription price starts from CHF 8.92 per month for an annual subscription, and CHF 9.90 as a monthly subscription.
The scanning service digitises all letters that would otherwise still physically end up in your letterbox. They come from senders who are not yet connected to the ePost network.
When a sender sends you a letter, it is forwarded directly to the ePost Scanning Centre. The letter is scanned strictly in accordance with letter confidentiality and is sent digitally to your ePost app.
Letters that do not conform to standard mail formats or which contain physical items are not scanned. They are sent to your home letterbox as usual.
The following features are automatically included in the Basic scanning service:
- Receiving digital post: companies and authorities that are already ePost partners send digital post directly to your ePost app.
- Pay invoices directly: if you receive an invoice, you can initiate payment directly and conveniently in the ePost app.
- File documents: create folders yourself or use the ePost folder suggestions.
- Digitise documents yourself: with the integrated scanner, you can digitise documents easily with your smartphone.
- Find documents: whether via tags or intelligent search. You can find any document in no time at all in ePost.
- Import PDFs very easily: with the «Share» feature, you can import PDF files into the ePost app straightforwardly.
Did you enter and verify your address correctly? With this basic requirement in the ePost app, you can upgrade to the ePost scanning service.
Log in to your app and click on «My Profile» from the start menu.
Click on «Widget Store» here. The start screen for ordering the scanning service then appears. The app guides you securely to the order from here.
Receiving letters
Yes, letter confidentiality also applies in the digital world. ePost and the ePost scanning service are committed to Swiss Post’s IT and data security standards. All data are encrypted multiple times and are stored in Switzerland.
It is ensured at all times that only you as the recipient can receive and read your mail. Even ePost employees cannot view or process your letters. The digital letterbox belongs only to you.
All standard letter formats are scanned. This applies to the majority of the post.
For security or efficiency reasons, the following letter content is not scanned and is still delivered physically. This includes:
- Vehicle registration documents
- Money and cheques (bank/post, Lunch and Reka)
- Gift cards (plastic)
- Travel and admission tickets (train tickets, concert tickets, etc.)
- Hidden pin code letters (bank/post)
- Bank/post credit cards
- ID cards, passport
- SIM (mobile phone SIM cards)
- Hardware (electrical devices, USB cables, CDs, etc.)
- Newspapers or magazines
- Undeliverable correspondence / returns
- Formats that do not meet postal standards
If you would like to receive an original ePost letter or scanned preview, you can order it free of charge within 25 days.
Open the document in the app and then tap “Order original document”. The original document will be sent to you by post.
You have 25 days to order, after which the letter will be safely disposed of as «waste paper».
You can order one original document per month free of charge. From the second order onwards, there is a charge of CHF 3.40 per original.
Unused free orders are carried over to the next month. At the end of the year (31 December), all unused orders expire. You will find more information here.
